Connie Strayer has been designing costumes educationally and professionally for over 30 years. In addition to designing, she dedicates much of her time to the area of textile design, working mainly in the areas of dyeing and printing. The two go hand in hand, and much of her textile work is utilized within her costumes.

To collaborate as a costume designer is to work with a narrative. Recently she has shifted her focus to telling stories beyond the body garment and creates wall work or sculpture, using the familiar material of her past as well as other materials that suit her purpose.
